ON-SITE PHASE

(JULY 2019)

For over two weeks in July, we had a total of 31 mentors, mentees, project leaders and professional mentors from 7 countries came to Brunei to jumpstart the project. The project was supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei.

In the Leadership week, our international and local participants underwent a leadership training under the theme of “Enhancing Youth Resilience through Service Leadership” in the Inspiring hall of University of Brunei Darussalam.

Various youth NGOs and Social Enterprises including Benchlab Co, Covered By Annisa, Generasi Bekarih and Bina Ukhwah also came to support us by either provide our participants with workshop/talks on employability, or to help to mentor them on entrepreneurship and leadership.

In our outreach week, we deployed our project members to facilitate a Structured Learning Experience for our beneficiaries which are 31 students in Anthony Abell College (AAC) and 20 students from Youth development center (PPB), to help enhance the students' skills that contribute to their employability.

UVC x PB19 Sustainability Phase 1 (September - December 2019)

As part of our aim to have the project goal to be sustainable, with our partnership with UBD'S Volunteering and Charity club (UVC), we hope to be able to sustain the vision of the original project which mainly focused on alleviating the risk of long term unemployment and underemployment among youths by promoting the RISE attributes (Resilience, Innovativeness, Skillfulness, Employability).

Under this phase, PB19 have conducted the General Leadership Day (GLD). The General Leadership Training involved a series of one-day training sessions in the month of September and December. Within each session, there were activities focusing on enhancing resilience and gaining coping mechanisms to stress while trying to instill long term motivations. The aim of these sessions
is to promote participants' leaderships skills and self-development.

Also, we have conducted the Youth.RISE workshop series at  AAC, as a follow-up, to ensure the impact done from the recent pilot-workshop in early July is still intact among the students.
